Primavera P6 Training Tutorial: Using Resource Lag & Resource Duration

Primavera P6: Resource Lag & Resource Duration

Primavera P6 is an excellent tool enabling you to effectively manage your resources in order to meet your project deadlines.  The default method for distributing resource assignments in Primavera P6 is via linear distribution over the duration of a project activity.  The Primavera application also provides alternatives to linear resource assignment distribution to accommodate those project scenarios where non-linear distribution is necessary.

For example, you may have an activity with a 10 day duration requiring a mechanical engineer for the entire 10 days.  However, you may not have one specific mechanical engineer available for the entire 10 days.  Let’s assume that you do have 1 mechanical engineer (John) available for the first 5 days of the activity and another mechanical engineer (Paul) available for the second 5 days of the activity.  Using Resource Lag & Resource Duration in Primavera P6, you will be able to assign John to perform the work on the first 5 days & Paul will finish up with the second 5 days.
